Latest News: Islamabad Changes Two Feeder Bus Routes
Daily commuters in the federal capital need to check their travel plans. The Capital Mass Transit Wing (CMTW) has changed two Islamabad feeder bus routes, and the new plan has been in force since October 20, 2026.
One route has been shut down completely, while another now ends at a new stop. Here is a simple guide to what changed, who is affected and what options riders have now.

What Changed in Islamabad Feeder Bus Routes?
According to the official notice, two services are affected. The first is the FR-13 route and the second is the FR-10 route. Both changes started on the same day.
Feeder buses are smaller services that carry passengers from outer areas to main stations of the metro bus network. They are very popular with students, labourers and office workers because fares are low and the buses run on fixed routes.
| Route | Old Service | New Status |
|---|---|---|
| FR-13 | Golra Morr Metro Station to Fateh Jang | Discontinued |
| FR-10 | Golra to Taxila | Now runs Golra to B-17 |
FR-13 Route Discontinued: Fateh Jang Riders Affected
The FR-13 route discontinued news is the bigger change. This bus linked the Golra Morr Metro Station with Fateh Jang. With the route closed, there is no feeder bus on this path anymore.
People who travel from Fateh Jang to Islamabad for work, college or business will now have to use other transport, such as private vans, wagons or their own vehicles. This may increase both travel time and cost for many families.
The CMTW has not shared a detailed reason for closing the FR-13 route in its notice. Such decisions are usually linked to low passenger numbers, fleet shortages or plans to move buses to busier routes. Riders hope a replacement service will be offered in the future.
FR-10 Now Runs From Golra to B-17
The second change is about the FR-10 Golra to B-17 service. Earlier this bus went from Golra to Taxila. Now it will stop at B-17 instead. Riders going to Taxila will need to arrange the last part of their trip on their own.
On the other hand, residents of B-17 and nearby housing societies may benefit, because they now get a direct feeder link with Golra. B-17 is a fast-growing area and better bus access there could help many new families.
Quick Tips for Affected Commuters
- Check the latest route notice before leaving home.
- Plan extra time for the first few days while you adjust.
- Share rides with colleagues who travel the same way.
- Consider a personal electric bike or scooty for short daily trips.
Public Transport in Islamabad and the Move to Electric
Public transport in Islamabad has grown a lot in recent years, with the Islamabad metro bus and a network of feeder routes. The city has also been adding electric buses to cut pollution and fuel costs. You can read about the bigger plan in our report on the Islamabad e-bus service plan.
Route changes like these remind us that public transport does not reach every area. For many people, a low-cost electric scooter is a practical way to cover the gap between home and the nearest bus stop.
Electric buses are quieter, produce no smoke and cost less to run than diesel buses. As more of them join the fleet, the capital hopes to offer cleaner public transport on more routes.
Best Option: A Low-Cost E-Bike for Daily Travel
An e-bike is cheap to charge and easy to ride in traffic. Before you buy, compare the electric bike price in Pakistan and our list of electric scooter and scooty prices. If you are a student or a low-income worker, the PM electric bike scheme may help you get one at a lower price.
Check the eligibility criteria, keep the documents required ready, read how to apply, and use the subsidy calculator to see your possible savings. Registration details are on our PAVE registration page.
The route update was first shared by ProPakistani. Passengers are advised to plan their journeys accordingly.
