Govt Approves 116,000 Electric Bikes Under Rs. 9 Billion EV Subsidy Program
The federal government has approved the second phase of the Pakistan Accelerated Vehicle Electrification Program under a massive Rs. 9 billion package. The initiative aims to promote electric vehicles and reduce fuel imports in Pakistan.

Under the new EV subsidy scheme, 116,000 electric bikes and 3,170 electric rickshaws and loaders will be distributed across the country on a first come, first served basis.
Officials said a subsidy of Rs. 80,000 per electric bike will be provided directly to manufacturers. The move is expected to make electric bikes more affordable for the public.
The government is also likely to approve another 100,000 electric bikes during the next three months as demand for EV vehicles continues to increase in Pakistan.
According to estimates, the electric bike scheme could help save around 8.6 million liters of petrol in the short term. Authorities believe the initiative will reduce fuel expenses and support clean energy transportation.
Officials further stated that Pakistan may save more than $220 million in foreign exchange over the next five years through lower fuel imports and increased use of electric vehicles.
