Breaking News: Punjab E-Bike Distribution Date Finally Confirmed
The wait is almost over for thousands of students in Punjab. The provincial government has finally confirmed when the Punjab e-bike scheme distribution will begin, and the news has brought relief to the lakhs of young people who applied for an electric bike earlier this year. Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif shared the update while talking about her government’s transport plans, including the province’s growing electric Green Bus network.

According to the Chief Minister, the handover of electric bikes to selected students will start on 5 November. In this post, we explain what was announced, who will get the bikes, what the free training offer means, and what applicants should do between now and the start of distribution.
Punjab E-Bike Scheme Distribution: What Was Announced
Under the CM Punjab e-bike scheme, the provincial government will hand over 100,000 electric bikes to students. The Chief Minister said that a larger share of these bikes has been reserved for female students, so that girls can travel to schools, colleges and universities on their own without depending on public transport or family members.
The scale of interest in the programme has been huge. As per the official figures shared by the Chief Minister, the scheme received more than 1.2 million registrations and over 600,000 completed applications. This means that only a small portion of applicants will receive a bike in this phase, which is why the transparency of the selection and distribution process is so important for students and parents.
| Detail | Information |
|---|---|
| Scheme | CM Punjab E-Bike Scheme for Students |
| Total e-bikes | 100,000 |
| Priority | Larger share for female students |
| Registrations received | 1.2 million+ |
| Applications submitted | 600,000+ |
| Distribution start | 5 November |
| Training | 2 days free riding training |
Free Two-Day Riding Training for Students
One of the most practical parts of the announcement is the free e-bike riding training. Many students, especially girls, have never ridden a motorcycle or scooter before. To solve this, the government will offer two days of free driving training to every selected student who does not know how to ride.
The aim is simple: once a student receives the bike, they should be able to ride it safely and confidently to their institution, tuition centre or any other daily activity. Training also reduces the risk of accidents in the first few weeks, which is when new riders are most at risk on busy city roads.
Why the training matters
- New riders learn balance, braking and basic traffic rules before going on main roads.
- Female students get a safe space to learn without pressure.
- Parents feel more comfortable allowing their children to ride independently.
Who Will Receive the Electric Bikes?
Only students whose applications were accepted and who clear the verification process will receive bikes. If you applied, keep checking your SMS and the official portal for updates about your status. You can also read our detailed guide on the e-bike scheme eligibility criteria and the list of documents required so that you are ready if you are called for verification or for the handover ceremony.
Earlier this month, verification of matric students also started across the province. If you missed that update, see our post on matric students e-bike scheme verification.
Green Bus Fare Stays at Rs. 20
Along with the e-bike update, the Chief Minister also shared good news for daily commuters. The fully electric Punjab Green Bus service will keep its fare at Rs. 20, even though petrol and diesel prices have increased.
The service currently runs 700 buses, and the government plans to grow the fleet to 3,000 buses within the next six to eight months. Women, students, senior citizens and persons with disabilities can travel on these buses free of cost. The buses also come with air conditioning, Wi-Fi and CCTV cameras, and the plan is to extend the service to all 148 tehsils of Punjab.
What Applicants Should Do Now
With the e-bike distribution date now confirmed, applicants should prepare in advance instead of waiting for the last moment:
- Keep your original CNIC or B-Form and your student ID card ready.
- Make sure the mobile number used in your application is active, as updates usually come by SMS.
- Do not pay any agent or person who promises a bike in exchange for money. The scheme is run by the government and selection is done through the official system.
- If you do not know how to ride, register for the free two-day training when it is offered.
